A Rising Military Technology Company Specializing in Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and Advanced Autonomous Systems

Anduril Industries is investing to build Arsenal-2; a 2 million-square-foot, software-defined shipyard at Tradepoint Atlantic in Sparrows Point, Maryland, the former Bethlehem Steel site. The project is backed by $3.7 billion in private capital from Anduril, paired with a U.S. Navy production contract worth up to $2.9 billion tied to output. Anduril wants to manufacture critical components and major sections for the U.S. Navy's nuclear-powered Virginia-class attack submarines. Construction will begin immediately, with initial operations targeted to start in 2030. The project will create 3,100 direct, high-skilled jobs, support over 11,000 indirect jobs, and generate roughly $2 billion in annual economic output for Maryland. Parts built in Sparrows Point will be shipped to Electric Boat and Newport News Shipbuilding for final assembly.

Anduril Industries is a venture-backed military technology company specializing in artificial intelligence, robotics, and advanced autonomous systems. Founded in 2017 by tech entrepreneur Palmer Luckey (the creator of Oculus VR) alongside Trae Stephens, Matt Grimm, Joe Chen, and Brian Schimpf, the company is valued at $61 billion. Unlike traditional legacy defense contractors, Anduril focuses heavily on a software-first approach powered by its Lattice OS and ArsenalOS software platforms, creating hardware that operates autonomously across air, land, sea, space, and the subterranean.

Some of their other well-known products include:

  • Ghost: an expeditionary, quiet, and modular platform that delivers intuitive autonomy at the tactical edge, balancing extended range and multi-payload capacity with an exceptional footprint. An autonomous air vehicle (AAV).

  • Barracuda: a family of air-breathing autonomous air vehicles (AAVs) purpose-built for hyper-scale production and mass employment.

  • Lattice Mesh: a decentralized mesh networking capability that securely distributes data across services, domains, platforms, and long distances providing access to critical information in remote, degraded, and low-badwidth environments at the tactical edge. It connects thousands of Anduril and Third-Party systems across the world in support of real-world operations.

  • Roadrunner, Roadrunner-M: a reusable, vertical take-off and landing (VTOL), operator supervised autonomous air vehicle (AAV), with twin turbojet engines and modular payload configurations that can support a variety of missions.

  • Fury: an autonomous air vehicle leveraging lattice software, it is designed to accelerate the development, testing, and fielding of mission autonomy into operational reality for the warfighter, delivering an unfair advantage for unrivaled deterrence.

  • Menace and Menace-X: Menace focuses on command, control, communications, and compute. It packages the integrated C4 capabilities of Menace into an on-the-move, expeditionary form factor.

  • Thunder: A hybrid-electric autonomous tilt-rotor aircraft developed with Archer Aviation. It operates as an uncrewed "robotic wingman" alongside crewed aircraft like the AH-64 Apache helicopter.

  • DiveXL: An extra large autonomous undersea vehicle, DiveXL integrates multiple large payloads for defense or commercial missions that require long distances, extended durations, and variable depths.

  • Arsenal OS: The digital backbone of modern defense manufacturing transforming blueprints into real production capability.

  • Submarine Shipbuilding (Arsenal-2): Anduril secured a $2.9 billion U.S. Navy contract to support production infrastructure, leading to a massive $3.7 billion investment in a state-of-the-art submarine manufacturing facility in Baltimore County, Maryland.

This year alone, Anduril Industries has secured major defense contracts:

  • U.S. Navy Submarine Shipyard Deal (October 2026): Won a contract worth up to $2.9 billion to boost attack submarine production. Anduril is investing an additional $3.7 billion to build a high-tech manufacturing hub named Arsenal-2 in Baltimore County, Maryland.

  • U.S. Army Command Platform (October 2026): Secured a five-year contract worth up to $1.8 billion to deploy the Next-Generation Command and Control (NGC2) common data layer, starting with the Army's I Corps. This system uses Lattice—an artificial intelligence (AI) software platform that connects different sensors and weapons so commanders can share data instantly.

  • U.S. Army Enterprise Agreement (March 2026): Awarded a 10-year contract worth up to $20 billion to unify the Army's commercial AI and hardware solutions under one digital network.

  • U.S. Air Force Autonomous Aircraft (June 2026): Selected for the Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA) program production phase to build FQ-44 semi-autonomous fighter aircraft.

  • Cruise Missile Agreement (May 2026): Signed an agreement to supply surface-launched Barracuda-500M cruise missiles to the Army, scaling production to over 1,000 rounds per year.

  • Netherlands (May 2026): Awarded a contract by the Dutch Ministry of Defence to supply counter-drone systems (C-UAS) to protect military sites and key infrastructure from small hostile drones using the Lattice software network.

It is a company that is changing how defense organizations and institutions use technology to scale next-generation command and control. It is a fundamental part of their mission to transform defense capabilities with advanced technology.
