We are pleased to introduce Abigail V. Nainda.
A national of Namibia, Abigail V. Nainda is currently the Senior Advisor to the Executive Director at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in the Constituency office which represents 23 Sub- Saharan African countries. She is constantly engaged in the Public-Private sector, drafting policy positions, and developing reports on behalf of the Executive Director with respect to member countries as well as other administrative matters pertaining to the work of the Constituency. She is an expert in Applied Macroeconomic Policy Analysis, Balance of Payments, Economic Research, Data Analysis, and International Negotiations.
With an experience spanning 13+ years, Abigail has carved out her niche and has become a rising regional economist specializing in the SSA region, Abigail has had a fair share of her career in the banking sector and global development economics. She has spent a decade in the Bank of Namibia - Namibia’s Central Bank - where she rose quickly among the ranks from a Research Officer to a full-fledged Economist. She has also served as a Fellow at the Macroeconomic & Financial Management Institute of Eastern and Southern Africa (MEFMI). Her passion carries through her work in the backdrop of Namibia and the region’s economic growth over the years as a result of unearthed resources and technology. One of her primary concerns is the distribution of those resources and the injection of the capital gained from those resources back into the economy. She is also an advocate for gender equality and human rights and has extensively travelled in Europe, America, and Africa, bearing witness to how different economies of the world grapple with challenges.
While working at IMF, Abigail is also doing a Master’s in Public Policy (MPP) at the American University and a Certificate in Strategy Execution for Public Leadership at Harvard Business School. She also has a BA in Economics from the University of Namibia, and a Masters in Global Economics from ISS, Erasmus University, Rotterdam.
She is adventurous, likes hiking, travelling, reading, and mentoring the next generation of women leaders.
